Settings against search engine spam filtersStarting from 3.2 version, CommonSense Search has specific settings to combat search engine spam filters. Limiting the number of related resultsHigh number of related results can trigger "keyword farm" warning flags in certain search engines. The solution is to limit the number of related keywords shown for each search. The line "limit=..." in configuration file controls this limit. You should consider setting it to a low value (in the range of 4-8) to help rank your site better. Changing the number of days, after which related results are rotatedIf you use the above setting to limit the number of related keywords on search pages, you can also control how often these results are rotated. Rotating of these results will help search engines to find new content on your site naturally. The line "rotation=..." in configuration file controls after how many days the results are rotated (minimum setting is 1). Hiding keywords from page URLsTo help combat spam filters, you can exclude keywords from your page names. To enable this option, change the line "crypt_urls=0" in configuration file to "crypt_urls=1". This will crypt your page names so that the search keyword will not be embedded there. |
